The Fund Forum hosted a training session led by Donna Sanderson, a representative of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, as part of the collaboration agreement recently signed by the two organizations. The event was dedicated to the upcoming charity marathon to be held in Tashkent. Sanderson talked about their foundation’s extensive experience in fighting against breast cancer and organizing the Race for the Cure in various countries.

Event focuses on shashmaqam music in New York

New York hosted a series of events to popularize shashmaqam, a unique genre of Uzbek music, as part of “Shashmaqam Forever” festival organized by the Fund Forum, the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in New York, the Center for Traditional Music and Dance and the Congress of Bukharian Jews. The festival included a concert by maqam singers from Uzbekistan at Carnegie Hall as well as an international conference titled Shashmaqam in the 21st Century.

“In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association has signed a Collaboration Agreement with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest foundation in the US dedicated to fighting breast cancer. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, the foundation works to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cure. The Agreement will help to step up charitable activities overseen by “In the Name of Life” National Association in Uzbekistan and to run collaborative projects.

On January 18 David Robert Coleman, a conductor at Berlin State Opera, gave a press conference in Tashkent in the run-up to a concert he is scheduled to conduct on January 21 at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. The conference panel included Ismail Jalilov, the head of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan, and young up-and-coming Uzbek pianist Laylo Rikhsiyeva.
