Cooperation for the Cure

The Fund Forum hosted a training session led by Donna Sanderson, a representative of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, as part of the collaboration agreement recently signed by the two organizations. The event was dedicated to the upcoming charity marathon to be held in Tashkent. Sanderson talked about their foundation’s extensive experience in fighting against breast cancer and organizing the Race for the Cure in various countries.
Event focuses on shashmaqam music in New York

New York hosted a series of events to popularize shashmaqam, a unique genre of Uzbek music, as part of “Shashmaqam Forever” festival organized by the Fund Forum, the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in New York, the Center for Traditional Music and Dance and the Congress of Bukharian Jews. The festival included a concert by maqam singers from Uzbekistan at Carnegie Hall as well as an international conference titled Shashmaqam in the 21st Century.
Exhibition in Moscow reveals Uzbek tourism potential

The Institute of Hospitality and Tourism at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia hosted a presentation on Uzbekistan’s tourism potential. Organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia with support from the Fund Forum, the presentation was attended by representatives of travel companies, the academic and business communities as well as students and teaching staff of the Institute.
Fund Forum’s publication presented at FITUR tourism fair

The presentation of the book “Fund Forum presents Uzbekistan” was held in Madrid as part of FITUR International Tourism Fair that took place on January 18-22. Moreover, Kelajak Tour international bureau for youth tourism and cooperation has participated in the Madrid fair for a second time with support from the Fund Forum.

National Breast Cancer Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure ink collaboration agreement

“In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association has signed a Collaboration Agreement with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest foundation in the US dedicated to fighting breast cancer. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, the foundation works to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cure. The Agreement will help to step up charitable activities overseen by “In the Name of Life” National Association in Uzbekistan and to run collaborative projects.
Seattle discovers treasures of Silk Road

A string of cultural events has recently been put together at Washington State University in Seattle with support from the Fund Forum. The events included a presentation titled “Discovering Ancient Treasures of the Great Silk Road: Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva” that aimed to boost the cultural relationship between two sister cities, Tashkent and Seattle.
David Coleman gives press conference in Tashkent

On January 18 David Robert Coleman, a conductor at Berlin State Opera, gave a press conference in Tashkent in the run-up to a concert he is scheduled to conduct on January 21 at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. The conference panel included Ismail Jalilov, the head of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan, and young up-and-coming Uzbek pianist Laylo Rikhsiyeva.
Conference in Geneva focuses on cooperation between Uzbekistan and Europe

Geneva’s Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations) on January 17 hosted a conference entitled “Uzbekistan and Europe: Prospects of Cooperation Development in Transport and Energy” organized by the Permanent Representative Office of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other International Organizations at Geneva, the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as well as the Center for Political Studies and the Fund Forum.
