The Fund Forum contributes to cooperation between Uzbekistan and European countries in theatre art. An Uzbek delegation of theatre workers visited UK, Germany and Denmark as part of preparations for Theatre.UZ International Theater Festival scheduled for October 2011. The Fund Forum with its Representative Offices in Europe, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan, Uzbek Embassies in the UK, Germany and Russia facilitated successful meetings with the heads of leading European Theatres in Great Britain and Denmark, participation in international theatre festivals and congresses in Germany and Russia.

From May 9 to May 21, four groups of doctors from Seoul National University Bundan Hospital (South Korea) performed a series of charitable surgeries on patients in need of urgent surgical interference from low-income families. The forty-five professionals did 30 surgeries to remove mouth defects, 10 heart surgeries and 12 orthopedic surgeries and provided dental treatment for over 400 people under Family Health Project overseen by the Fund Forum, the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, the Women’s Council, and “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association.

On May 20, the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Uspensky Music School in Tashkent gave a concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The orchestra was conducted by young talents – the winners of international contests Ivan Denisenko and Nilufar Muhiddinova. The masterful performance by the young musicians was met with uproarious applause from the audience which included the musicians' parents, relatives, friends, teachers as well as guests and journalists.

The Fund Forum and Kelajak ovozi (Voice of the future) Youth Initiative Center are pleased to announce a Summer Training Camp which will be held from July 7 to July 21 in Kashkadarya Region. Completed applications must be submitted to a Kelajak ovozi YIC office in person or emailed to kelajakovozi.uz@gmail.com no later than June 10.

A delegation from the Louvre, one of the world’s largest museums, visited Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Fund Forum. During the meeting between the Fund Forum and the Director of the Museum, Henri Loyrette, the two sides discussed issues relating to cooperation between the two organizations in education, science, culture and arts. The two sides are planning to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation and organize a series of art exhibitions in the Louvre and Uzbekistan.

On May 14, the prominent French pianist Francois Chaplin performed in Tashkent with renditions of compositions by masters of Impressionist and Romantic music such as Frederic Chopin, Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy. The number of classical music fans who showed up for the concert made the organizers move the venue to the Grand Hall of the Conservatory from the previously chosen Small Hall. The concert organizers include the French Institute, the Embassy of France and the Fund Forum.

The Center of National Arts is housing an exhibition of Vakhobjon Buvayev, a master of Gurumsarai ceramics. On display are around 80 ceramic items created by Buvayev and his teachers who are the founders of the Gurumusarai local school of ceramics. Organized by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association, the art show will run through June 1, 2011.

From May 9 to May 12 the Fund Forum, Mehr Nuri charitable organization and the Women’s Council will be honoring 200 war veterans in Tashkent by giving them presents on behalf of the initiator of this charitable campaign Gulnara Karimova on the occasion of May 9, Remembrance and Honor Day.

Prominent French pianist Francois Chaplin will perform on May 13-14 in the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The maestro’s two-day performance will include a concert with the Symphonic Orchestra of Uzbekistan on May 13 and a recital the following day. The concerts have been organized by the French Institute, the Embassy of France and the Fund Forum.

Tashkent’s Center of National Arts welcomes the public to the solo exhibition of works by the contemporary painter Abduvali Muminov that focus on the motif of landscapes. Titled “Under the Blue Sky”, the art show marks the artist’s 70th anniversary and presents over 50 paintings. Organized by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen, the exhibition will run through June 6.
