Young gymnasts to vie for prizes in Snezhinka tournament

As many as 150 young gymnast girls will compete in Snezhinka (Snowflake) calisthenics open tournament on December 24. Organized annually by the Fund Forum and Forum Junior Sport children’s complex, this year’s tournament will feature young gymnasts not only from Tashkent’s sports clubs but also regional schools.

Launched in 2005, the year the Fund Forum inaugurated Forum Junior Sport, Snezhinka calisthenics tournament was given the goal of helping popularize and develop calisthenics in Uzbekistan; encouraging youth interest in calisthenics; strengthening friendly ties and exchange of experience between trainers; discovering young talented athletes; and boosting the sporting mastery and experience of young gymnasts.

The competition will feature teams of sports clubs and organizations in Uzbekistan. The performance of athletes in seven age categories will be rated by professionals of international level as well as leading trainers.

Gymnasts who win 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded medals and diplomas of respective degrees. All participants will be given presents provided by the tournament organizers.

Forum Junior Sport children’s complex works to foster healthy lifestyles in children, monitors their achievements and provides support for young promising athletes. The Complex boasts facilities conducive to successful and fruitful sporting activities. Its trainees have become multiple award winners at various competitions and sporting tournaments both in Uzbekistan and beyond its confines. Currently, around 300 children are being trained professionally at the complex in calisthenics, wushu and other sports.
