Young Entrepreneurs School releases winter batch

The Young Entrepreneurs School had its winter training session on December 4-8 at Tashkent’s Sayohat Hotel. Fifty young people engaged in entrepreneurship from all regions of Uzbekistan attended the School’s winter session. The training session was organized by the Fund Forum and Kelajak ovozi Youth Initiative Center with support from Microcreditbank and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.

The Young Entrepreneurs School offers training sessions and workshops that teach practical and methodical skills in entrepreneurship and the curriculum covers various areas such as credits, tax, branding, business psychology, problems in business and ways of solving them. The trainees also have the opportunity to exchange opinions with professionals in this sphere and get tips and recommendations.

Upon completion of the course, the trainees give presentations on their business plans and projects based on the newly gained skills. According to final conclusions by the panel, the young entrepreneurs with promising business projects are given recommendations for applying for grants and concessional credits to leading banks in Uzbekistan.

Nodir Ulmasov, trainer, Samarkand:

- “I trained at the Young Entrepreneurs School in 2010 where I presented my business plan. After completing the course I returned to Samarkand and set up my own business. Later I and a few other young trainers were invited to participate in the Young Entrepreneurs School where we had 6 training sessions, and I now instruct young entrepreneurs and manage my own business.”

Gulsora Karimova, a trainee of the Young Entrepreneurs School, Andijan:

- “This is the first time I have participated in this sort of training, and I’m very happy I attended it. Here at the school I presented a project to set up a Women’s Center. The goal of my project is to open a center for women in the region where I live. The center would offer a variety of courses such as language courses, computer literacy courses, sewing courses, cooking courses and other useful activities. I have really enjoyed the training course. I think that this kind of training courses are very important for young people looking to set up their own business.”

Twenty trainees whose business projects have been highly rated received 1 mln UZS worth of grants each from the Fund Forum. All told, 3,200 young boys and girls have participated in the Young Entrepreneurs School thus far, with 34% having set up business projects.
