Yangi avlod laureate wins acclaim at Vitebsk festival

A laureate of Yangi avlod (New generation) Children`s Art Festival, Diyora Usmanova, participated in the 9th International Children`s Music Contest “Vitebsk 2011” held on July 12-14 as part of the 20th International Festival of Arts “Slavyanskiy Bazar in Vitebsk” in Belarus.

Nine-year-old Diyora attends School No103 that specializes in mathematics in Tashkent as well as a music school. She has made several appearances in concerts and major charity events, performing both solo and with Uzbek pop stars. She has also emerged as a winner in several national and international music contests.

In 2010, Diyora came out a winner at Yangi avlod Children`s Art Festival in the singing category. She has a passion for drawing and arranges music on a music synthesizer.

On the first day of the festival in Vitebsk, Diyora, clad in an original national costume, performed a barnstorming song in Uzbek. The following day she performed another exciting song, wearing an undergraduate gown and cap.

The International Children`s Music Festival, which is held annually as part of “Slavyanskiy Bazar in Vitebsk” Festival of Arts, has as its goal to popularize children`s music creativity, to discover young talents, to contribute to the efforts to create new children`s songs, and to foster in children an artistic taste and respect for professionalism. The contest is open to children between 7 and 12 years of age from various countries who have shown significant results in national music contests and festivals.

This year the contest featured 21 participants from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Chernogoria, the Czech Republic and Estonia. The participants` performances were judged by an international jury chaired by prominent Russian musician and composer Sergei Shustitsky.

A number of Yangi avlod Festival winners have toured the world and given exciting performances. They regularly participate in prestigious contests and festivals and have netted prizes and awards along with acclaim and fame. The little stars have also performed during Uzbek culture presentations held in foreign countries as well as exhibitions, campaigns and other international projects overseen by the Fund Forum.
