The Chinese city of Karamay (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) on June 25 hosted a presentation on Uzbekistan’s investment climate, prospects for attracting foreign investment, tourism potential and the Fund Forum, which oversees activities in this area through projects to attract tourists, specialists and experts.
The presentation was held as part of the 7th Xinjiang International Tourism Festival in Karamay organized by the government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Karamai government and the Tourism Administration of China. The festival, which included a variety of events, was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions and travel companies from over 30 countries.
The presentation provided the attendees with information about the current state of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and China, the investment climate in Uzbekistan and the guarantees and concessions the government offers to foreign investors, particularly those in Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone.
Those leading the presentation noted the growing Uzbek-Chinese links in tourism, which is aided by a Memorandum of Understanding signed by two countries’ tourism administrations as well as major cultural events organized by the Fund Forum such as Asrlar sadosi (Echo of centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture, “Style.Uz” Art Week and the upcoming Tashkent International Festival of Contemporary Cinema.
Uzbekistan has become a must-visit destination with thousands of tourists from across the world since it gained its independence. The government pursues a policy aimed at building an attractive tourist infrastructure. The ancient Uzbek cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, also known as the Pearls of the Orient, have drawn flocks of travelers from Asia, Europe and America. Uzbekistan’s architectural and culturally legacy, coupled with the nation’s trademark hospitality, have piqued the interest of many Chinese tourists as well.
