On July 6 the Beijing National Concert Hall hosted the official opening ceremony of Uzbekistan Culture Days in China, followed by a concert by Uzbek performers attended by over 500 representatives of the business community, general public, diplomatic missions and journalists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, China`s deputy minister of culture noted that it is with great pleasure that China welcomes the delegation from Uzbekistan, an ancient country in Central Asia which is as significant in the history of the Silk Road as is China. He went on to say that Uzbekistan and China are ancient and great countries with a rich culture and traditions and that the friendship between the two nations originated in the distant past. He said that in the years since diplomatic ties were established, Uzbekistan and China have seen stable cooperation. Both the countries have benefitted from mutual exchange, which has been a positive factor in the development of relations between the two nations.
It was noted that public organizations such as the Fund Forum play a critical role in the cultural and humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and China. The Fund Forum has established cooperation ties with partners in China since it was founded and has signed cooperation memorandums with several major Chinese public organizations. Since 2005, the year the Fund Forum`s Chinese office was opened, around 30 joint events – exhibitions, concerts, festivals and presentations – have been organized.
The July 6 concert offered performances by prominent Uzbek singers and musicians such as Zulaikho Boikhonova, Giyos Boytayev and national music group under the guidance of Ismailov, as well as Ofarin contemporary dance troupe.
On June 7 the Uzbek delegation will depart for the historical city of Xian where Uzbek culture days will proceed.
