Uzbek-Spanish cooperation in small business

On June 30 – July 1 the Fund Forum`s representative office in Spain gave a presentation on the project “Support of Women Farmers and Entrepreneurs” as part of a series of business seminars in Madrid and Barcelona organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain in partnership with the two cities` Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The participants of the business seminars in Madrid and Barcelona were provided with detailed information on the project. Overseen by the Social Initiatives Support Fund (SISF), the project is aimed at providing budding female farmers in Uzbekistan with opportunities to improve the quality of their families` life by making available micro loans, boosting their educational level and experience in managing a farming household.

Considering the important role played by female entrepreneurs, including in farming in Spain, both the sides expressed interest in collaboration in this area.

The business seminars were attended by delegations from the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Uzinfoinvest Agency for Information Provision and Assistance for Foreign Investment. The event also included presentations on the development of small business and private entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan and prospects of cooperation with representatives of small and private business in Spain.

On the Spanish side, the business seminar in Madrid was headed by the vice president of Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Augusto de Castañeda. In his speech he reiterated the active growth dynamics in interstate relations as well as the growing interest shown by the Spanish business community in the dynamically developing economy of Uzbekistan.
