Tashkent to host international conference

On February 1, Tashkents Hotel Intercontinental will host an international conference titled Traditional Medicine in a Modern Society. Its Role, Implications, Perspectives, organized by the Fund Forum, the Womens Council, Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, Salus Vita Medical Centre and the recently established Association of Traditional Medicine of Uzbekistan. The central event of the conference will be the presentation of the said Association, which will work to revive, preserve and promote oriental medicine and to develop international cooperation in this area.

This initiative of the Fund Forum and the Womens Council has drawn great interest from specialists, and national and international partners. Official support has been provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, and the Academy of Traditional Medicine of Uzbekistan. The guests of the conference will include specialists in healthcare and traditional medicine from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, China, Russia, Latvia and other countries as well as officials of state and international organizations, diplomatic corps, NGOs and the media. A total of 200 people are expected to participate in the conference.

Speakers will include scientists, experts and practitioners representing local and international organizations such as the WHO Centre for Collaboration in Traditional Medicine (Italy), the Acupuncture Academy of Beijing University for Traditional Chinese Medicine (China), Ayurvedic Research Institute (India) as well as specialists in other types of traditional medicine.
