On March 23, the Center of National Arts will welcome the public to attend “Bazar-Art 2011” Applied Art Exhibition-Fair, one of the most frequented art shows in Tashkent, organized by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen. On March 25, the event will host an awards ceremony for the winners of the exhibition as well as of the Pedagogical Grants Program, a project devised by the Fund Forum in an effort to support educators in Uzbekistan.

“Asrlar sadosi” (Echo of centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture, a celebration of traditional culture in Uzbekistan, organized annually by the Fund Forum and UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan, will bring together thousands of visitors in Bukhara, one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Uzbekistan, on April 30 – May 1, 2011.

New Zealand, the capital of New Zealand, hosted ITF Taekwondo World Championship on March 8-13. Athletes from over 60 countries participated in the championship. Uzbekistan was represented by 12 athletes, including the trainees of the “Champions Forum” sporting complex, with one, Tulkun Ismailov, winning a bronze medal.

“Avicenna Conference: a forum for talent from Uzbekistan in the UK” took place in Cambridge, UK, on March 12-13. The conference was attended by 50 people, including scholars from Uzbekistan and the UK, traditional medicine professionals and students from Uzbekistan currently studying in the UK.

“In the Name of Life” Сharitable Marathon, the second since its start in May last year, will be held on April 27, 2011 in Tashkent. The fundraising event will be organized by the Fund Forum, the Women’s Council and “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association.

The State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow is housing an exhibition of works by Lev Snegiryov titled “Lev Snegiryov. Painting. Graphics”, organized by the Fund Forum, Ministry of Culture of Russia, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia and Mardjani Foundation. The opening ceremony of the art show on March 4 was attended by officials of the Ministry of Culture, Moscow’s business community, the broad public and journalists. The exhibition will run through April 18, 2011.

Hundreds flocked to the Academic Russian Drama Theater of Uzbekistan, which on February 13, 23 and March 1 staged plays featuring famous Russian film and theater actors and actresses. The project organized by “Kamalov.uz” LLC and the Fund Forum gave theater fans an opportunity to view plays such as retro comedies “The Bear” and “Proposal” based on Chekhov’s works, “The Woman above Us” by Slapovski and others.
