Guitarist Bruttman`s flamenco concert makes a splash

On June 30, French musician and composer Jean-Philippe Bruttman demonstrated the beauty, energy and vibrance of flamenco music. The French virtuoso`s concert at the Youth Creativity Palace, another in the series of cultural events organized by the Fund Forum and the French Institute, has become a memorable event that concluded with a five-minute ovation.

The Fund Forum and the French Institute continue to present to the Uzbek public diverse events featuring musicians and artists. This time it is a concert by the French guitarist Jean-Philippe Bruttman, who is famous for his passion for flamenco music. This is the French maestro`s third appearance in Tashkent, where he greeted his fans in French, Spanish, Russian and Uzbek, and the audience responded with loud applause.

Frederic Bellido, Director of the French Institute in Tashkent:

“I`m often asked why France organizes Spanish music concerts in Uzbekistan. Well, first, flamenco has a broad geography and is well developed in the south of France. Appearing from out of dark, Bruttmann started playing his guitar, and during the ensuring two hours he and his team had the audience enthralled with a sparkling, dramatic performance. As is characteristic of professionals, Bruttman managed to show the diverse moods a guitar and a cajón (a box-shaped percussion instrument) are able to create. Music and dance came so close together in the great flamenco performance, making the event an enthralling and sensuous meeting of harmony, dance and melody.

The flamenco music concert, which was attended by far more people than the venue could seat, concluded with a five-minute ovation. The concerts organized thus far in an effort to develop cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and France have always drawn a keen interest from the local public and help maintain a positive cultural dialog.
