June 10, 2011

On June 30, French guitar virtuoso Jean-Philippe Bruttman will perform at Tashkent’s Youth Creativity Palace along with a group of musicians and flamenco dancers in what promises to be a passion-filled concert, another in the series of events overseen by the French Institute and the Fund Forum.
The upcoming June 30 concert will become the French maestro’s third appearance in Tashkent. The famous musician and his band “Jean-Pilippe Bruttman and friends” toured Tashkent in 2005 and 2007, and have made thousands of fans ever since.
An avid fan of Roma music, maestro Jean-Philippe Bruttman has put a premium on flamenco, a genre of music and dance which originated in Spain’s southern region of Andalusia in the 18th century, which has as its foundation Andalusian music and dance and, in whose evolution, the Gypsies from Andalucia played an important part. As an art, flamenco established itself around 150 years ago. It is a blend of the arts of singing, dancing and guitar playing.
Bruttman’s first album, “The Art of Flamenco”, came out in 1996. The next year he recorded “Recuerdo” in collaboration with Hippolyte Baliardo. In 1998, in Grenoble, he staged his first flamenco play. Bruttman was particularly prolific in 1998, when he created his “Flamenco trio” and wrote music to the play “Ay Pablo, Ay Flamenco” by Guilène Ferré and the play “La Vie imprévisible de Lola Montès” (The unpredictable life of Lola Montes) by Pierre Laplace and Madona Bouglione.
