Charity fair held in Beijing

On September 17, Chaoyang Park in Beijing played host to an international charitable fair, Love Knows No Borders, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China with assistance from diplomatic missions of various countries and companies in China. The Uzbek pavilion mounted by the Uzbek Embassy in China with support from the Fund Forum drew a large number of people attending the major fair. The proceeds from the fair will go toward reconstructing low-income villages of national minorities in mountainous areas in Yunnan province.

The Uzbekistan pavilion offered a variety of traditional and applied art types. Among the highlights of the pavilion were national cuisine and sweets made by representatives of Uzbekistan who work and live in Beijing. The bustling trade ran until late evening. Many visitors to the fair purchased Uzbek souvenirs and mementos, thereby supporting the mission of the fair organizers.

Many visitors opined that the Uzbek pavilion had a special atmosphere of warmth and friendship about it. Chinese citizens and international visitors, who once worked and lived in Uzbekistan in various years, fondly spoke about Uzbek traditions, customs and culture, reminiscing about the time they spent in the country.
