Bukhara to host Avicenna readings

On December 16-17, Bukhara will host the 4th Scientific and Practical Conference “Avicenna Readings” on the theme of “The Legacy of Avicenna and Modern Medicine”, which will focus on the implications of the eminent 11th-century doctor and polymath’s medical legacy for the development of modern medicine. The conference, to be organized by the Fund Forum, Avicenna International Association of Traditional Medicine and Ibn Sino – Avicenna International Fund, will be attended by specialists and scholars from the CIS and other foreign countries.

Specifically, the conference will look into the following areas:

• the implications of Avicenna’s medical legacy for the development of modern medicine;
• the role of Avicenna’s teaching in fostering a healthy lifestyle;
• Avicenna’s teachings on prevention, detection and treatment of disease and the need to apply them in modern medicine;
• the importance of Avicenna’s doctrines in the development of the concept of health generation and reproductive health;
• Avicenna’s teachings on the integrity of the human body;
• Avicenna’s teachings on temperament;
• the implications and prospects on Avicenna’s rich legacy of natural therapy in modern pharmacy;
• traditional medicine based on Avicenna’s teachings;
• the global supremacy of the ideas of humaneness and selfless medical help in Avicenna’s teachings.
