The 9th “Bazar-Art. Fall 2011” exhibition-fair is set to start on November 17 at 12 a.m. at Tashkent’s Center of National Arts. Scheduled for November 17-19, the exhibition will be welcoming art enthusiasts and fans of Uzbek artisans’ creations. The event will be a showcase of exquisite artistic items created by craftsmen and craftswomen from all parts of Uzbekistan as well as an opportunity to purchase beautifully handcrafted mementos.
“Bazar-Art” has been organized twice a year by the Fund Forum and IJOD Association of Artists, Art Historians and Craftsmen since 2007. This year the event agenda includes workshops with artisans representing ceramics, traditional embroidery, wood carving, etc.
The project has been given the goal of discovering the creative potential in traditional and contemporary applied art, raising public awareness of trends in this area, providing support for crafts dynasties and talented masters, and contributing to the preservation of the national heritage. Bazar-Art does not just present leading masters and their creations; it is also an opportunity to purchase items that strike visitors’ fancy.
Several artisans and their apprentices will be awarded grants as part of the three-day event aimed at helping to further develop applied art and revive disappearing crafts and traditional forms in Uzbek art.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
